It's not the melting ice cream that is a problem, it is the broken flakes of the chocolate coating that despite all preventitive measures alight on your freshly laundered clothing and or carpet.
A question which has occurred to me in the woke pandemic - if you go to the ice cream van in Scotland can you still buy a "black man"? It's so much quicker than ordering "ice cream between two wafers, one of which is actually two wafers with sweet creamy stuff inside and edged with chocolate". I'm sure some ecowarrior would be able to calculate what all that extra exhalation would be doing to the ozone layer . . .

I prefer ice cream in its natural state: a "bool" on a cornet, decorated with "monkey's blood".
At the ice cream van:
Vendor: Crushed nuts?
Customer: No, arthritis.

Out of interest, do they still do wafers?

@Jannie: in my childhood that was called a "slider". Yum, yum.
dearieme - it's years since I had an ice cream, but I'd probably still enjoy a choc ice if I could eat it while avoiding the sensitive teeth.
DJ - ha ha - I've avoided both so far.
Wiggia - that's the great choc ice problem as I remember it. I don't know about wafers though. I don't remember seeing one for years.
Jannie and dearieme - I've never heard of that called by either name. Maybe we didn't have such exotic versions.
My wife is fond of the absurdly named "mini magnum" with its dark chocolate coating. It's often "on offer" for a six pack.
Clever Chinese, finding a new way to dispose of their toxic waste - let the people consume it!
dearieme - our grandson likes mini magnums, like a choc ice on a stick.
Ed - it is clever. Apparently they do it with 'sewer oil' too.
