'Superhuman evacuation effort' to save thousands trapped in cars as snow hits Turkey and Greece

Stranded motorists either spent the night in cars, abandoned their vehicles to walk home, or crowded metros in the Turkish city on Monday - while soldiers in Greece handed out food, water and blankets to drivers, some of whom were stranded in their cars for more than 10 hours.

Climate change threatening 22,500 UK ancient sites and buried treasures as peat bogs dry out, warn experts

As changing weather patterns continue to dry out peatlands, the buried artefacts they contain could be destroyed. One such famous find was that of Lindow Man, a preserved body of a man believed to be from the Iron Age that was discovered in a peat bog in Cheshire in 1984.

Weather extremes come and go - they are not necessarily related to climate change. The MSM seize on all extreme weather events to reinforce their agenda, but those that care for accuracy look at NOAA data etc.

Peat bogs have been drying out and shrinking for centuries, especially as the areas around them are drained - I remember reading articles about it years ago. It has nothing to do with so-called 'Climate change'

I think that the moss that protects peat bogs needs CO2 to grow.
But CO2 bad.
Too bad peat.

Only ten hours? Paaaah! We were stranded in an open Triumph Herald coupe for fifteen weeks in 1976, with no water, and just a hole in the ground for washing in!

And who really gives a monkey's about some bloke in a peat bog anyway! I need all the peat I can get for my garden, and coming across a few old skeletons isn't going to stop me growing my spuds!

Paaaaah!

Global cooling, we await thee.

Ed - the media only seem to be interested in headlines. I think they would prefer a global cooling narrative because cold is more damaging and even sinister.

Anon - yes - some years ago I was given a tour of a fenland area where the peat level had dropped because of drainage causing the peat to shrink.

Doonhamer - I'm doing my bit for the moss though.

Scrobs - good point, a few old skeletons would save buying bone meal. Chop them up with the spade and the job's done.

James - although not yet I hope.

All forgotten that it was climate change that created many such areas and caused the artifacts to be protected in the first place

Woodsy - yes, the ice retreats and reveals tree stumps which once grew there because the climate was warmer.
