Hospital Anecdote

I'm reliably informed by a family member that Royal Derby Hospital A&E wasn't exactly busy yesterday afternoon. The place was virtually empty with only two people in there.

Doesn't mean much and maybe they are now packed in like poorly sardines, but the anecdotes do mount up.

In addition to the staff, or overall?
Although most of the staff will be away, pretending to have 'long covid', or some other excuse for slacking.

Our local hospital is busy but no more than normal pre pandemic, yet many ward areas are half empty! that was as seen last week by my neighbour.
It is noticeable that since the banning of photography in hospitals that virtually nothing but visits by dignitaries is now shown or libray pictures of covid wards.
Who knows what is going on other than the waiting lists get ever longer.

Well, the Nightingale Units are doubtless full to the brim, so that's hundreds of thousands of people who are not having accidents and emergencies.

And staffing levels will be down because most of them are on courses explaining how to make lengthy voicemail messages explaining why you can't see a doctor.

Ed - two in addition to the staff and yes I bet there are staff pretending to have 'long covid'. That one could run and run.

Wiggia - I wonder if more people than usual are still dying at home? Worth checking.

Sam - as well as those lengthy voicemail messages, our GP 'service' seems to be busy with its amateurish website explaining why nothing at all is their fault.

But surely A&E is the last place you should go if you have an infectious disease?

Vatsmith - it wasn't an infectious disease in this case, although I don't know what the other two were there for.
