Strolling through the park today, chatting about this and that, Mrs H and I briefly touched on the issue of political correctness. We agreed that it is not something we should delve into deeply or take too seriously. It is serious, but that way madness lies. Stay detached.

It's worth taking just seriously enough to subvert it. Sometimes I wonder whether nobody is really politically correct; it's just people on the internet taking the piss out of something they heard about. They are all satirising other people, and it's satire all the way down...

That's fine, AKH ... as long as they allow you to stay detached.
Sam - I wonder that too. As if many people are sufficiently conformist to avoid outright criticism but don't actually believe it in the sense that if it fell apart they would shrug and see its demise as positive.
James - I doubt they are bothered too much about people who are detached as long as the majority go along with things.
