Germany to reject Starmer’s plan for troops in Ukraine as Europe splits over peace deal
Germany is likely to reject Sir Keir Starmer’s plans to deploy a European peacekeeping force to Ukraine, throwing the proposals into disarray.
As European leaders prepare to meet on Monday afternoon in Paris, a split is emerging. The UK and France are set to propose sending soldiers to Kyiv, while Germany and Poland more likely to not participate.
Other countries, including Italy and Norway, are so far undecided.

On the Worstall blog a commenter suggests that our troops might not be keen on a suicide mission to be launched at the behest of a man who, with like-minded cronies, happily ties up our soldiers and marines in court cases while approving of awards of millions of pounds to their enemies.
Our own home grown version EUAID? Plenty of options for lucrative management, perhaps?
dearieme - it's not easy to see how they could be keen on the idea. "Are we allowed to use deadly force or not?" is bound to be the question and the only honest answer is "you won't know until afterwards."
DJ - sounds like it, senior bureaucrats will already be mapping out suggested staff structures and salaries for EUAID.
Only if the sons and daughters of those politicians keen on the idea, go first.
