It reminds me of the Grenfell Tower saga. Overcrowding, mass immigration, chaotic living conditions, and a disaster followed by an inquest. Regency disasters were, though, accompanied by a lot less emoting and jostling for political advantage. "Act of God", indeed.

Yes, and although many would not see it that way today, we could say that the Regency response was much less contaminated by jostling for advantage.
