Wonderful!

I remember looking up at that weather door, and thinking how terrifying it would be to climb out of it. Now I know!

Funnily enough I saw that on Youtube last night.I commented that Fred Dibnah would have paused at the top to enjoy the view and light a fag, before his comment about half a day out with the Undertaker if he got things wrong. Just imagine being with the original builders when they were putting it all together.

Sam - not a job I'd take on, but it doesn't seem to bother some chaps at all.

John - I was reminded of Fred Dibnah too and you are right, he'd have paused at the top to enjoy the view, light a fag and make a comment. I also tried to imagine the original builders, without all that safety kit.

I try telling myself that after 30 feet any extra height is no worse. But it never works.
Witness the famous picture of skyscraper builders having their lunch.

Doonhamer - I wouldn't even consider that radio mast.

I pass our local church tower daily, and still wonder at the engineering skills and prowess in getting massive stones of enormous weight even up to the height of the tower!

My mountaineering skills seem to run out about three steps up the stairs...

Scrobs - yes, when we pause to gaze at what was done with skills and muscles it's impressive.
