I'm not so convinced about his reading from a script means that he is reading someone else's words. He could have written the whole thing with sincere belief, and be poor at delivery. In fact, that's just what Sunak is like.
However, I think the fact that the You Tube comments were switched off is very telling. Transparency and inclusion, indeed. Amazing that such big changes are being mooted and discussed by someone who is now our PM, and there isn't huge public debate about it. Potentially far more important for freedoms than Scottish independence and PR and even Brexit, but why isn't the BBC talking about the "National Conversation", or somesuch?
I suspect that there is a race going on behind the scenes.
Boris (love him or loathe him) was a dark horse who came up on the outside to 'Get Brexit Done' against the wishes of the Elite. He had to go. Perhaps COVID delayed his departure, but he still had to go.
Liz Truss (love or loathe her plans) was not going to follow the trainers instructions. She had to go, sharpish.
Rishi Sunak is following his trainers instructions and is happy to race in the main group.
The race is to some form of World Consensus where the Elite will prosper at the expense of everyone else.
Similarly they tried to disqualify Trump on a couple of occasions and are still hoping to deny him an entry in the next race. Joe Biden still races on the approved course, although there may yet be a Stewards Enquiry.
So CBDC? My favourite question - who benefits? It won't be the common man despite claims to the contary.
Sam - I agree, Sunak could be a believer and probably is. It's as if a lack of discussion by the BBC indicates the importance of the issue.
DJ - yes, the question is - who benefits? As you say, it won't be the common man. If there are benefits for all, then it wouldn't even have reached this stage.
James - he seems too dull for his handlers not to lose patience at some stage, although Starmer seems to be a duplicate.
