Just a small battery in a scooter makes a lot of fire. As it's probably a lithium-based battery, throwing water at makes it worse. Now multiply that by ten for an EV battery, perhaps with the car in an attached garage...
Now charging cables are being stolen for their valuable copper content, I suspect the whole EV market will start to collapse, especially as 'leccy's soon to be more expensive per mile than petrol. Just as well: the grid and the UK's generating capacity is already stretched.
I was surprised he opened the patio door, thus allowing more air in to fuel the flames. Shirley, a damp towel thrown over it, as you would with a chip pan fire, would starve the flames of oxygen. Just a thought. Penseivat
Penseivat - that's what I thought, opening the patio door could have been a mistake. I imagine a large damp towel might do something although lithium reacts violently with water so I don't know which effect would predominate.

Ed - I sometimes wonder if EVs will ever be banned from car ferries and/or the channel tunnel, or even multistorey car parks.

Ed - yes, the UK grid and generating capacity never did look good enough for an EV boom. As if ultimately, the masses aren't supposed to own one.
The Christmas tree was doing well until the burning projectiles hit it. I wonder if the scooter was a present.
Sam - I wondered if the scooter was a present too. I think we'll avoid buying electrical gadgets as presents this Christmas.
