Center Parcs U-turns over plans to turf out guests on day of Queen's funeral

The company has emailed all customers who will be affected by its decision, but many people on social media say it has only landed them with additional stress at a time of national mourning.

What numpties. As in chumps, as in clots, as in mutton-headed.

(When I was young I never heard "numpty" used except by Glaswegians. It seems to have spread. There's another Glaswegian expression that's spread in my lifetime but I can't call it to mind. Age, eh?)

dearieme - there are so many equivalents that I can't easily remember which are the words I first came across. "Numpty" was more recent, I know that. Early ones are "clot", "bonehead" and "closet".

As a southener,I've never heard of closet. What about Walley?

Doonhamer - I only know the last two, but I'm never sure that "tampon" quite fits so to speak.
