Not so toasty

I don't know where the warm weather went. Thanks to global warming being conspicuously late, we felt the need fire up the log burner this evening. A log fire in late May - it's unprecedented. Next it'll be a mug of warming cocoa before bed.

Maybe Net Zero is working already, in which case we need to call a halt because I don't think there is a vaccine for hypothermia.

Same here in rural western Ireland. We're still running the heating when it should be switched off by now.

Yes, distinctly chilly. I think it must be Net Zero kicking in. No wonder the BBC were warning us about doomism. They've taken it too far, and we ought to start some serious fracking if only to warm things up a bit. If there's no improvement by June, I'm going to start burning my yogurt pots rather than recycling them. It's not much, but we all have to do what we can.

Yeah, the heating has been off for a couple of months, but I had to throw a log on the fire yesterday. It was like winter again
Fortunately, This time next week I'll be in Corfu

Bill - we have the heating off but only by using the log burner weeks later than usual.

Sam - if only someone would invent a thermally efficient yogurt pot stove.

Bucko - Corfu sounds too warm for me. I moan about the cold at the moment, but only because of the Net Zero nonsense.

A K Haart - I like the heat. You don't get a hangover because you sweat beer

Its not unprecedented, a few years ago I distinctly remember the beginning of June being very cold, and lit my logburner then. And just last year we had frosts in June:

I'm not sure it's cold as such, but here in North Staffs the feature, increasingly over the past decade, seems to be the ridiculously fierce cold Easterly and Northerly winds making it very unpleasant outside. I don't remember so much wind from those cold directions in the past.

Sobers - yes, these things are never unprecedented. We probably notice comparatively cold spells more than we otherwise would because of the endless climate narrative.

Woodsy - today in Derbyshire we had a fair amount of sun but a cold wind so the weather was nowhere near as pleasant as it looked. Haven't been able to sit out on the patio for a while even though it is fairly sheltered.
