William Preaches Against Sin

Stars ready to join Prince William for ceremony recognising best ideas for tackling climate change

The event will include performances by Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, KSI and Yemi Alade, and Shawn Mendes, and an appearance by Sir David Attenborough, who will share the optimism he feels about environmental challenges.

William is making an ancient claim here. It is a covert claim but clear enough in its essential character. He is effectively claiming to mediate between Gaia and the feckless consumer. That’s us, but you already knew that. It has been made abundantly clear over recent decades.

It comes as no surprise that our inevitable role has morphed from sinner to feckless consumer but the role is much the same. It is our job to support a new priestly caste on our collective backs, a caste which is somewhat hereditary as it always was. As it certainly is in William's case.

We are in the process of acquiring other sins too. The feckless smoker of course, but we've moved on from that. The feckless unvaccinated for example. The feckless car driver, the feckless drinker, the feckless holidaymaker and so on. Even the feckless eater. That's one to dwell on.

Welcome to the world of the new priesthood where sin is inescapable. Unless you join the priesthood of course.

Well he had to say something, Charles has just backed ER and says he runs his Aston Martin on the by products of cheese and wine from his estate, of course you have to own 130,000 acres to be able to extract that much but hey! every little helps.....

There's an argument, which I have yet to get my head around fully, that most of our social tensions are class warfare. Clearly Marxism is Class Warfare, workers vs the owners. Original Socialism was workers vs the bosses. Conservatism was the 'haves' hanging on against the 'have nots'. The early middle ages was the battle of the warrior class to control the serfs. And now the Climate Change debate (whatever the truth of it) is the Elite vs the feckless consumers, and the COVID debate is the Elite vs 'the unvaccinated'.

All class warfare by one means or another. Often the Elite feel un-obliged to observe the constraints they impose upon the minions. And often the Elite deal with masses via intermediaries, such as the Church, Politicians, Merchant Houses, newspapers, a bureaucracy and other wannabe elites.

Meanwhile most of the 'Deplorables', the Gammons, the 'Working Man', just get on with life.

Seven deadly sins is enough to getting on with.

"Coldplay" is an excellent name for a band that embraces measures to tackle climate change.

Have you seen this, AKH?

Unfortunately, the 'Royals' have to remember that most of the brood have been pretty bad at keeping up the morals of our Queen, so they don't really get much from here in the way of approval.

I hope William does soemthing about all this, but fear the worst.

Wiggia - William seems to be as dim as Charles. Both would be better off keeping quiet because a serious energy crunch could shine a harsh light on their foolishness.

DJ - it can be described as class warfare, but elites do seem intent on making it more difficult for the deplorables to identify their own class via immigration, gender politics and other divisive political strategies.

Andy - it's a pity we don't keep our focus on them. They do work.

Sam - yes I've recently bookmarked netzerowatch.com. It's a much needed resource because things could go very badly wrong after decades of foolishness.

Scrobs - I don't see William being any better than Charles. Better than Harry perhaps, but that's not saying much.
