DJ - yes, we do seem to have entered a weird situation where leaders do lead far too people astray into all kinds of useless and destructive fantasies.
It was always a problem, but having to work hard to earn a living and support a family with little or no state welfare does seem to have nurtured a much more grounded population.
As far as my limited knowledge goes, the old eec customs union was rolled into the EU agreement. You can not be in one without being in the other.
We could have rejoined the EEA but Dave of Pigsmouth scuppered that.
Mike - that's as far as my limited knowledge goes too. The idea seems like a preliminary political move towards preparing people for cancelling Brexit.
