The turbocharged pound in your pocket

Sadiq Khan launches growth plan to 'turbocharge' London economy with '£11,000-in-your-pocket' claim

A plan to “turbocharge” economic growth across the capital has been launched by Sir Sadiq Khan with the claim it could put an extra pre-tax average of £11,000 in each Londoner’s pocket.

Unveiled on Thursday morning, the mayor’s London Growth Plan aims to restore productivity growth to an average of two per cent a year in the next decade, which, according to City Hall, would make London’s economy £107billion larger by 2035.

A plan to "turbocharge" economic growth eh? Sadiq Khan has certainly adopted the Labour style guide for exuding nonsense. The comments are somewhat negative though, almost as if people don't believe anything he says.

There are also plans to revitalise the fishing industry with a turbot charge, and to clear the fatbergs in London sewers with a turdocharge.

Sam - ha ha, although a turdocharge sounds suspiciously like a new tax.

Everyone knows that labour elites and economic growth, does not compute.

Ah! I get it! They use 1930s super chargers. You know, the ones that used to consume more energy than they produced for extra speed! They're not in the computer age yet!

DJ - at the moment yes, but...

Tammly - that's right, economic growth does not compute for them. They don't seem to know how it comes about at all, nor the kind of people capable of generating it.

I didn't know 1930s super chargers consumed more energy than they produced.

Yes because they didn't have computer control. Turbo charging engines re emerged when micro controllers could match turbo charging to all the variable factors of gearing, load, speed etc. Hence the lumbering diesel could be turbocharged and put into lorries, coaches and vans giving them the fantastic performance they have today.
