Tell it as it is

That's quite a telling point she makes - that earlier generations had a much less emotionally-fraught education with an emphasis on learning facts and skills, and we didn't have a "mental health crisis". Either our anxieties were all hidden away by repression and social control, or the authorities have taken a wrong turn. In particular, my children came home from primary school having been told that we were all going to suffer due to climate change. That's a tough one to counter, when up until then we told them to listen carefully and pay attention to what the teachers said.

Sam - our teenage grandson is bright, but he comes into conflict with what from the side-lines seems like a much more emotional school atmosphere than I ever knew, including teaching staff. It certainly doesn't seem to foster respect.

All part of the feminisation of everything, I'm afraid.

Peter - I agree, it has been a disaster.
