Another Gloomy EV Story

It's well known that getting the last 20% of charge in takes a LONG time - this applies to any battery. So what he should have done is get back on the road and make another stop nearer home (which he'll have to do anyway). But this just shows the utter absurdity of milk floats versus a petrol or diesel car with anything up to 600 miles range, and a refuelling time of minutes...

Marketing department brand name: "Mach E"

Customer assessment: "Another crappy milk float".

Priceless! (Well, not exactly priceless...)

I can guarantee I'll not be buying one.

Dave - yes, from the miles he quotes, our diesel could go there and back on one tank of fuel.

Sam - despite all the marketing and hype, what EV buyers appear to be buying is a battery in a car-shaped package. Like those child's toys which turn out to be a colourful box with not much inside.

James - certainly not yet in our case.

Sam V. Well, they could hardly call it Mach O

"Reduce climate use"

WTF does that mean? Turn off the heater?

Grand advice! It was -5C when I went to defrost my car this morning; five minutes with the front and back heated screens, full hot blower, and the wipers - job done!

I guess that would be half the range used up if I were so stupid as to have bought one of these virtue-signallers' toys.

Doonhamer - somebody probably came up with the name Mach Zero though. If so, it's a pity they didn't use it.

Peter - I assume it does mean the heater. And after defrosting the heated front and back screens, the heated seats and headlights go on for our school run. EV range must go down at quite a rate at this time of year.
