World’s biggest 'carbon-sucking' machine is switched on in Iceland: $15 million device will capture 4,000 TONS of CO2 per year and could help 'reverse climate change'
- Orca based in Iceland is the world's largest direct air capture and storage plant
- It uses a filter to extract and permanently remove CO2 from the surrounding air
- Orca runs fully on renewable energy from the adjacent geothermal power plant

Some office full of civil serpents somewhere up there is making millions of pounds to waste time on such a ridiculous 'project'.
I really despair.
Rumours that China had put in orders for two billion machines have turned out to be premature.
I can see Bojo with his finger hovering over the buy button and nut nuts urging him on, do it do it.....
And when they have sucked all the oxygen out of the air the problem will be solved. Gaia reboot.
In the meantime I would not want to live near there. Lake Nyos. But you will be glade you bought a battery car. All the IC ones will be as useless as your lungs.
If we order 500 of these machines for each undersea volcano it might save us. We will need a larger tax base. OH!!! THE HUMANITY!!!
I'm with Scrobs on this. Must keep the blood pressure down.
Scrobs - that's it. As long as it keeps them employed and offers some environmental kudos they don't care how crazy it really is.
Sam - yes, I'm sure China is happy enough to watch from the sidelines and maybe supply a few parts.
Wiggia - so can I. He'd use it as a photo op too.
Doonhamer - if the suck the CO2 out of local air, what happens to local vegetation? It relies on air coming in with lots of lovely CO2.
HTL - although dropping them in the sea does have some appeal.
James - it's too crazy to raise my blood pressure. Nothing to be done when the loons lose it to this extent.
