A while back Son had Covid-19. Two positive tests and a few days of flu-like symptoms. Not a pleasant experience with some reduced lung function for a while but bearable without medical attention. He's a fit chap in his early forties so we expected him to shake it off fairly easily which fortunately he did.
A few days ago he also had the AZ vaccine in case he might need some kind of certification at some point. Covid-19 wasn't so bad after all. Yet the vaccine side-effects bowled him over. He says it was ten times worse than the disease itself. Saw him this morning and he's recovering now, but it was a very unpleasant experience.
Make of it what you will.

I hope he is continuing to make a good recovery. There are lots of accounts like this; the AZ jab in particular seems to be very unpredictable. Recipients of the vaccine are given leaflets explaining what the adverse side-effects might be, but it's strange that we don't hear much about this on the BBC.
Still, the vaccination process is a marvellous success, based entirely on the fact that we can actually do it. A marvel of procurement, logistics, and our reasonable good-natured public. Your son would obviously have been better off just benefitting from his acquired immunity, but where's the success story in that?
Sam - he's doing well thanks. Yes we've heard of quite a few people knocked back for several days by the AZ vaccine. Must be very common in spite of what we are told but yes, the logistics of it have been amazing.
Antibody dependent enhancement?
Man Beach - could be, or could have been an allergic reaction.
