Leading disseminator of leftist propaganda perhaps, but any impartiality or balance was dropped decades ago.
But I agree they are entertaining, but perhaps not in the way they think they are, more like a slow-motion car crash.
I imagine that if and when we get shot of the BBC, terms like "independent", "unbiased" and "impartial" will still be waved around, but we will view the outfits claiming them in much the same way that we view advertisers claiming that their soap powder washes whiter.
On a different note, six years for rape? No wonder rapists want to come here. What with that and the benefits...

When they are de-chartered or whatever the term is for kicking them into touch, they'll sink to the sort of dross which Sky etc does.
We watch neither, and prefer finding our own news everywhere else!
Of course, the kicking out of such a 'human' disgrace is welcome, so normal people will find out sooner or later, without needing to listen to the biased lot in W1AA.
Ed - do they really believe this nonsense? I suspect not because when people leave the BBC a number have said publicly what it is really like. They must know, although some come across as pretty deluded.
Sam - and on the subject of rape, during lockdown I read a book where BBC attempts to sidestep the Telford and Rotherham rape scandals was analysed in some detail. Grim reading.
Scrobs - I think the BBC's problems attracting young viewers and the number of people who decide not to pay the licence fee may lead to some kind of crisis which cannot be fudged. I hope so and I hope it is soon.
They create programmes by paying a small number of approved production companies, who know the rules, to create them.
It is like I create a car by buying one.
Educate? How many different ways and programmes can they tell us that in ten, twenty, one hundred years the planet temperature will rise by a disastrous fraction of a degree. With concomitant floods, or droughts, sometimes changing every hour.You do not need to know your topic, just be able to read a teleprompt.
Inform? Want to know Trump baad maan, Israel baad, But EU good. Never say National Socialist, always Nazi. Darfur? What?. News only comes from places which have 5 Star hotels.

Doonhamer - good points and yes - I can tell that you do not trust them. Claiming to be impartial and independent isn't the same as being impartial and independent but it seems that pretending to believe even the most unconvincing PR is part of the job.
