Well done them, but they need some forward-facing spines as well. And some projectile ones.
Sam - good idea, although mating could be more of an issue than it is already.
I'm surprised the leopard found them. I lived and walked in the country in Israel as a child, collecting porcupine quills, but never saw a single one, not even fleetingly!
Tammly - perhaps they are nocturnal, although in that case, looking for them at night sounds risky.
