Destiny sometimes proffers us a glass of madness to drink. A hand is thrust out of the mist, and suddenly hands us the mysterious cup in which is contained the latent intoxication.

COVID-19: Matt Hancock says virus is 'back under control' - but we must stay vigilant
The health secretary says England's second lockdown has driven down cases, but warns: "We don't have much headroom."
The health secretary has said that England's lockdown means "we've got this virus back under control" - but warned continued vigilance is needed in the fight against COVID-19.
Speaking at a Downing Street news conference, Matt Hancock acknowledged that the second national shutdown has been tough.
If Hancock thinks the coronavirus debacle has been anything but a monumentally incompetent disaster, then he has lost whatever marbles he ever had. He was offered a glass of madness to drink and the fool drank it.

He can drink all the madness he likes. I shall start getting jittery when he insists that we all get injected with the madness. Well, he won't insist, of course. It will be our choice whether we want to work, travel, go to pubs and restaurants, and ultimately spend our own money. Have one for yerself, Matt!
It amuses me that these intellectual pygmies think all their little 'rules' are having any effect whatsoever on this natural phenomenon. Thinking that by dictating that people can only drink beer while eating Scotch eggs that they are having an ounce on impact on the spread of a virus throughout a population that are still meeting up through work and other necessary gatherings on a daily basis. They are so drunk on their own power that they really think they are having some massive impact, when all the evidence suggests the virus has spread and is spreading completely unhindered by all the restrictions that have been put in place.
So many citizens are just plain tired of all this confusion.
I have to say that as the only moveable one here at home, I do all the shopping etc, and go by bike too, but a daughter mentioned that one of her oldest chums has got Covid, and, we won't be able to meet her at Christmas anyway!
I am keeping Senora O'Blene away from all this, she's happy with that!
@ Sam Vega: Don't jest - the front page of the Mail today has the new "Vaccine Delivery" minister suggesting that public venues could require proof of vaccination as a requirement of admission, although the slimy Gove says not:

I doesn't matter what they say, anyone not complying will effectively be "Cancelled" by society...
Sam - I'm not keen on the vaccine either. Too rushed and no medium to long term experience of it.
Sobers - I agree, there is no evidence that any of their schemes have done anything positive. Just the opposite if anything. There should be extensive prosecutions considering the damage caused and the way better advice was ignored, but I'm not holding my breath.
Scrobs - we only do online shopping, although today Mrs H visited a farm shop, which was a first for us during the coronavirus mess.
microdave - it would be no surprise if something like a vaccination certificate were to be forced on us. It would be bungled of course and I suspect this may hold the idea back.
