Our plan is working

Keir Starmer insists 'our plan is working' and says he will 'keep pushing forward'

The Prime Minister has defended his government's plan, as he battles to remain in his position. Sir Keir Starmer said efforts to cut costs, reduce net migration and boost growth showed 'our plan is working'.

Sir Keir - who has insisted he will not walk away from number 10 if Andy Burnham wins the Makerfield by-election, triggering a leadership contest - has sought to highlight his own record.

European Union rejects Keir Starmer's Brexit reset demand in major setback

Brussels is said to have rejected Sir Keir Starmer's proposal to establish a single market for goods between the UK and EU in a major setback for Government's goal of improved relations.

The Cabinet Office's most senior official handling European relations, Michael Ellam, put forward the ambitious plan during recent trips to the Belgian capital as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties with the bloc.

If the EU had consisted only of a "a single market for goods" - i.e. a European free-trade zone - there would have been no compelling reason to leave. But is anyone naive enough to believe that any deal with the swine won't result in a creeping Fourth Reich-isation?

Of course it did. Only complete surrender will be accepted.

Of course, also, that’s no problem for TTK: it’s exactly what he intends.

But every boatload of illegal immigrants is a failure. Every grooming gang is a failure. Every unfilled pothole is a failure. Every closed pub is a failure. Every striking doctor is a failure. Every knife crime is a failure. Every day the Covid Inquiry drones on is a failure. Every attack on free speech is a failure.

Taking a few 'successes' and drawing a line of spin around them is NOT a plan.

dearieme - I agree, the EU should be avoided because of what it is now and the course it has been pursuing for years.

Peter - yes it is what he intends and because of the difficulties of joining he seems happy enough to settle for something even worse.

DJ - I agree, and even his claimed successes have occurred in spite of government incompetence, or as with immigration, the damage is now entrenched.

His NET migration figures have only improved because of quarter of a million Brits left the country.
