Good to see an old friend; the shed frequently drives past the end of our road and, on one memorable occasion, followed me most of the way to Sainsbury’s - it’s quite a shock when it appears in the rear-view mirror!
Macheath - good grief that sounds alarming. Taking the shed to Sainsbury's sounds like a shopping trip prompted by some pretty convincing end of the world predictions.
I modified an Austin A40 Farina for autocross – racing round fields. I fitted an Oselli 1125 cc engine, racy camshaft and twin HS4 SU carbs (from a scrapyard Riley). The suspension was modified and so the exhaust had to come out under the passenger’s door. It was fast. It could do over 100 mph. BUT it was very hard to stop because I didn’t modify the hydro-mechanical brakes (hydraulic at the front and mechanical at the back)!!!!

A chap I used to know squeezed a Daimler 2.5 Litre V8 into one! Although I doubt it would be any quicker round country lanes than Ivan's example.

Dave - I couldn't tell, the whole thing sounded noisy to me.
Chris - that sounds hairy, especially the braking. Mrs H had an Austin A40 Farina, but all we did with it was paint it purple.
