Glastonbury warning over 'highly infectious disease' as festival-goers urged to take action
Glastonbury festival-goers have been urged to get vaccinated against a "highly infectious" disease amid ongoing outbreaks across Europe.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has warned that measles is "circulating across the country", with high numbers in the South West.
The UKHSA confirmed last week that 109 cases of the Victorian-era disease were recorded in April and 86 in May. Unvaccinated children aged 10 years and under have been the worst hit.
Britain morphing into ‘National Health State’, says think tank
Britain is turning into a “National Health State”, a think tank has said after the Chancellor gave the NHS a major funding boost in her spending review.
The health service was the big winner of Wednesday’s spending review, receiving an extra £29 billion per year for day-to-day spending and more cash for capital investment.

For some reason, they never call it the Brexit windfall, despite Boris saying that voting leave would lead to us spending more on the NHS.
Sam - good point, Boris turning out to be right must cause palpitations in a number of places.
I struggle to see the problem with young children and measles Way back in the dark ages (1940s) one of my sisters caught measles during her first days at school. Mum called the family doctor who called in on his rounds ( I said it was the dark ages ) , and when Mum said she was worried about the rest of us, I was one of four, the doc said let them all play together and let them catch it, you wont have to worry about them getting it later on when it could do damage. We did all catch it and 3 weeks later were running about as normal.
John - that's my memory of it too, may as well catch it as kids to create the immunity for later. I'm fairly sure I caught it, but don't recall it being particularly serious.
Well I think 1960s rock concerts knocked spots off present day Glastonbury.
Measels, Mumps, German Measles, Chicken Pox, I think I'd had them all back more than 60 years ago. Well since then I've not had much to do with the medicine men (two minor injuries and day surgery in 70 years).
Tammly - should measles spots be knocked off?
djc - I have as little as possible to do with the medicine men, but evading them is becoming more difficult now.
"Highly Infectious Disease". Band name.
Penseivat
Penseivat - ha ha, or The Measles.
