Nothing to see here...

Our friendly bus driver tells us that Trentbarton, a local bus company, no longer allows e-scooters on its buses. Fortunately we aren't likely to be affected by the ban, but there must be some kind of precautionary reason for the decision .

It must be reassuring that not only are you going to work to enjoy all that the sea can throw at you but you're loaded with potential time bombs. What happens when the carrier is under a flag of convenience - like so many - and doesn't have the necessary kit to cope with normal fire dangers, let alone the self-fuelling lithium batteries?

Apart from setting fire to the bus, they are likely to be heavy, muddy, and take up space. They don't seem to fold up.

I suggest "hitching rails", where scooterists can pay to be towed along. Cornering would be fun.

We used to be bombarded by pictures of Boris on his bike. Why don't we see pictures of Sir Chocolate Teapot on his e-scooter?

Jannie - maybe the necessary kit to cope with these fire dangers is a quick way to dump the vehicles in the sea.

Sam - that's a good idea, they could probably recharge the scooters at the same time.

dearieme - maybe Sir Chocolate Teapot is too unbalanced.
