To be For is a power only on the condition of being at the same time Against – Victor Hugo
Pronounced as "wane" .I think it derived from "wee yin" , small one.It is a West side of Scotland word.On the East side of Scotland, and North England the word "bairn" is used. A slightly altered very Olde English word.
Doonhamer - I don't know but I assumed there some connection with 'wean' as in weaning a baby.
