Business Secretary claimed he was a solicitor... despite never qualifying
Jonathan Reynolds has been accused of fabricating his CV after it emerged he repeatedly described himself as a solicitor despite never qualifying...
He also told the Commons in 2014 that he “worked as a solicitor in Manchester city centre” before switching careers.
In fact, he didn’t qualify for the title because he never finished his training contract, having quit the course in 2010 to run for Parliament.

An enterprising person would start a betting book on CV "mistakes" by MPs for future elections, especially as CV claims seem to be more and more blatant. There are loads of possibilities -
A CV claim to have been an astronaut.
A CV claim to have been kidnapped by aliens.
A CV claim to be a giraffe.
A CV claim to have advised Elon Musk.
A CV claim to be an AI system.
Yes, lots of possibilities.

Equally worryingly, perhaps, his only acquaintance with any sort of business was looking at company law in his textbooks. The more of this stuff we get, the more it appears that one of Starmer's difficulties is that he wasn't exactly inundated with talented successful individuals when choosing his government.
Labour Cabinet. Pretend Qualifications and area of expertise.
K Starmer Ruthless eradicator of Pak grooming gangs.
E Milliband. Energy generation Expert
A Rayner. Expert in Industry and Industrial relations
R Reeves Economist
W Streeting. Heathcare and Epidemiology.
L Nandy Social Care Administration.
Hopefully now someone will investigate if he has practised law illegally.
Don’t forget Bridget ‘I went to school as a child so I know it all’ Phillipson; History/MFL at Oxford, two years in local government, a stint at a women’s charity and then onto the Westminster gravy train.
Sam - I agree, Starmer wasn't inundated with talented, successful individuals. It's not clear if he knows this, but some of those around him must know it.
Tammly - not impressive is it? We may assume that this lot are at least reasonably close to being the best there is within Labour MPs too.
Maybe he used to hang about on street corners. Where Surkier picked him up. Do you want to be in my gang, my gang.
And the rest is history.
Anon - I hope so too, and investigate if claiming to be a solicitor is illegal.
Macheath - yes, hopeless Bridget is a good example of the need for voters to check for experience before voting. If they did the selection process might be tightened up. Although presumably Starmer checked and thought that having no experience was good enough.
Doonhamer - there's no telling with this lot, maybe as a barrister, Starmer was keen to be instructed.
A CV claim to have been a human being.
DJ - although to be fair, some of them may once have been human.
Oh, for someone to go through the CVs of all the politicians, of all parties, in Parliament. Shirley some script writer could forge a tv series out of this?
Penseivat
Penseivat - good idea, it could be used in a number of ways, such as a database where we can query the number of MPs with no business experience. The tv series could become a soap.
The revelations keep popping up with depressing regularity; now it’s Angela Rayner who, like Reeves, appears to have an interestingly elastic approach to the passage of time:

Macheath - Reeves seems to be habitually mendacious, but I wonder if Rayner is more likely to be slipshod about such things, doesn't keep records, doesn't remember what she said last time and doesn't care anyway. Not that it makes much difference, neither should be in Parliament.
