Those with Trump Derangement Syndrome have always been irrational - but previously their irrationality was fashionable.
There are signs that the more rational Democrats are finding the reports from DOGE illuminating (unless their jobs depend on Government wasteful spending). The pool of people with TDS is shrinking.
DJ - yes, the Democrats made the strategic mistake of allowing things to become so bad while glossing over blatant corruption that any leak would be damaging and letting it all out would be catastrophic. Now they know.
TDS has definitely infected British society, and it's difficult to see why people get so wound up about him. I can understand if you were one of the Americans in his gunsights (illegal immigrants, some government employees, etc.) but it's not as if his actions have an immediate effect over here.
Here in our predominantly middle class cathedral enclave, comfortable retired couples roll their eyes if he is mentioned in conversation. In groups and meetings, saying the T-word leads to an outbreak of soft concerned mooing noises and muttered conversations. If he is mentioned in sermons, the congregation gives a little self-satisfied chortle as if in mutual recognition of his risible status.
Sam - it's odd that people can be conditioned to this degree and be unaware of it, because as you say, it's not as if his actions have an immediate effect over here.
Or maybe it isn't so odd, as defining and defending comfort zones in this way has always been an aspect of middle class social life.
