The Online Safety Act is kicking in and the reality of having an internet governed by Ofcom is starting to materialise; no matter what the Act’s advocates say, this reality isn’t pretty. Regulations like the Online Safety Act make Britain a bad place to do business and to be online. What tech company would do business in Britain?

The whole piece is well worth reading as yet another indicator that the current rate of UK decline is not decreasing.
Following the summer’s riots, the Government seeks new ways of strengthening this law to suppress speech online. This is regulatory decadence at its worst. Ofcom is becoming one of the most powerful regulators in the country, and one of the strongest signs to stay away from the British economy. Until these regulators are brought to heel and these laws repealed, British prosperity will continue to suffer.

Prosperity is always impeded by regulation. The trouble is that people with judicious characteristics necessary to be regulators cannot be found, or are not sort.
Tammly - we seem to be stuck with expansionist regulators with no clear limits on their desire to expand.
They don't like the truth, they don't like it uppem, as Cpl Jones might have said.
OK, so economic growth will be compromised. And that will just be one more way of making us poorer with a stagnating economy, but that's a price worth paying if it can all be blamed on Brexit.
So... defund the BBC and 'off' OFCOM?
James - it's a pity they don't receive it uppem too.
Sam - Brexit may have to take some of the blame because it tipped half the country over the edge and they seem to have stayed there.

For a system that loves both expansion of expenditure/staffing numbers and regulation the solution is obvious.
We need a super regulator to oversee the correct functioning of all these minor regulatory "Off.." s.
Its title should end in " Off"
