The Guardian can only really function in an echo-chamber. They made a huge self-congratulatory fuss when they introduced "Comment is Free" (CIF), saying how ordinary people could now have their say. And then they gradually censored their own platform, when they realised that people with a different opinion could express themselves there just as effectively.
They will probably survive in isolation, but only because they are backed by a trust fund. It's a privately funded club for woke middle class ninnies.
"backed by a trust fund": no longer, Sam. The Scott Trust metamorphosed into The Scott Trust Ltd. For why? For because to dodge a tax bill of course. "It's different when we do it."
Sam - I think you are right, the Guardian can only really function in an echo-chamber. That's its market, not open discussion. Yet the echo-chamber image is mildly disturbing because behind it there is always the thought "do I do that?" Maybe flouncing off to Bluesky confirms that the Guardian knows its readers don't do that kind of thing.
DJ - it may be relying on fairly tight censorship, but if that becomes unfashionable then the sniggering could go above 10.
dearieme - almost defines the Guardian - "It's different when we do it."

I'd dial my sniggering up to 10 if the Guardian came to realise that Bluesky could be just as critical of the Guardian's approach to truth as X.
