The pointed cap with the golden bells
After all, folly is the great attribute of man. No judge is as grave as an owl; no soldier fighting for his country flies as rapidly as the hare. You may be strong, but you are not so strong as a horse; you may be gluttonous, but you cannot eat like a boa-constrictor. But there is no beast that can be as foolish as man. And since one should always do what one can do best—be foolish. Strive for folly above all things. Let the height of your ambition be the pointed cap with the golden bells.

Extreme weather is Earth's 'chorus of anguish', Pope says
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) -Pope Francis on Thursday called on world leaders to heed the Earth's "chorus of cries of anguish" stemming from climate change, extreme weather and loss of biodiversity.
In a message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, he urged nations to confront climate change with the same attention as global challenges like wars and health crises, saying global warming hurts poor and indigenous populations the most.
Francis said rich countries have an "ecological debt" because it is they who have caused the most environmental pollution over the past two centuries, marring nature's song.

Ah, the man who legally owns nothing but lives in opulent splendour seems to be pointing towards reparations...
Oh dear! Please your holiness, we did provide all the technology, all the medicine, all the pure science research and most of the innovation - please sir - please!
We had one hot day then temperatures dropped almost 12 degrees the following. Damn, and there was me picking out a new sunbathing spot. I feel rather let down.
How rich is the Roman Catholic church? Asking for a friend...
Irrelevant man pontificates (!) about subject of which he is ignorant. Perhaps he should stick to his usual made-up nonsense - there's already too much climate-related craziness.
Sam - it's a huge pity that he can't rise above this kind of nonsense.
Tammly - and the way out of poverty for hundreds of millions, but maybe that's his gripe.
Bill - it's cold, grey and wet here now. I don't mind drizzle but miss the blue skies already.
DJ - for a few years after WWII my father was stationed in Malta with the Royal Navy and for years afterwards he spoke of the contrast he'd seen between richly ornate Catholic churches and the poverty of ordinary Maltese people.
Ed - he'd be wise to hedge his bets and stick to his usual made-up nonsense in case a very cold winter and power cuts change the political focus.
With any luck, the shy and solitary European Bison moved, without written consent, to Kent will cause an explosion of biodiversity. Does anybody know how?
Graeme - I certainly don't know how. More bison-loving insects?
