Some portion of the population can be programmed

Quite long but covers a lot of ground from Dennis Prager's robustly conservative viewpoint. To my mind his robustness illustrates very well how feeble public debate has become and how often it tries to accommodate trends which should not be accommodated.

The comment used as a post title is made at about 28:28. Of course we can all be programmed, otherwise social cohesion wouldn’t work, yet voting maniac programmers into power is a very bad idea. Should be obvious but it’s not.

Yes he hits the nail smack on the head. Left wing people are intellectually children and most of them are incapable of argument. The circle of friends I have had until quite recently are mostly unable to debate, capable only of hurling dogma and vituperation across a table at one.

For this reason I have cut them out of my life and refuse to meet or associate with them. Despite their declarations of friendship, none of them have contacted me to ask why; but then again it is my experience that the vast majority of people have little or no intellectual curiosity.

Tammly - that sounds drastic. We just avoid certain subjects, although that isn't particularly satisfactory because the friendship becomes very slightly unreal. Not an easy problem.
