Sunset

Sunset photo hastily snapped from a bedroom window yesterday evening. Autumn is a time of beauty but so often we barely notice.

On the school run at this time of year we often see a beautiful sunrise with vast swathes of fiery colour streaked across the eastern horizon. Or early morning mist filling the valley like a silver grey sea with only a church steeple and a few trees rising above it. I sometimes think I should stop the car and take a photo, but never do. Too much traffic and things to do. Clock ticking, things to do.

Autumn tree colours seem to have been particularly beautiful this year too, but maybe this year hasn't been unusual in that respect. A stark contrast between the beauties of nature and the ugliness of human madness may be in the mix too.

Nice photo. I really love Autumn when the skies are clear, as they were down here yesterday, and seem to have been in Derbyshire too. Grey, overcast and windless days are quite hard to appreciate.

Lovely pic there, Mr H!

When I used to drive over to Canterbury, leaving home around 6.30am, there was one particular stretch of road which stretched over flat countryside for many miles!

It really was a joy to drive on days when the clouds were clearing and the sun just appearing - you've captured that moment very micely!

Sam - grey and overcast can be a problem if visibility is also poor, although sometimes the day can be murky enough to be atmospheric. At least that's what I often say to Mrs H, but it has become something of a joke between us.

Scrobs - that sounds like just the drive for those big sky effects we sometimes see where the countryside is flat. Norfolk can be like that.
