To my mind there was something odd about Nancy Pelosi's bit of theatre.
The House speaker, critics noticed, skipped the traditional introduction welcoming the president as a "distinct honour".
When the president accused Democrats of planning to force American taxpayers to provide unlimited free healthcare to undocumented immigrants, Mrs Pelosi was observed twice mouthing: "Not true."
She stunned onlookers by shredding a copy of the president's remarks as he concluded.

Too overtly emotional perhaps, considering the occasion and her position. It is more than that though. She comes across as someone too close to the edge, someone who is losing it in more than the usual rhetorical sense.

Trump's boorish gestures are appreciated because he is appealing directly to the people. Pelosi seems to want to copy him, but is patently not sincere. In a war if rudeness and personal slights, he'll win.
The Left are being trolled so hard by Trump and they are falling for it every time. I think they actually are losing their marbles over him now, they cannot see straight at all. On any objective assessment Trump hasn't really done that much that isn't easily reversible by a change of President. There's little practical output to Trumpism, its all mood music really, and the Dems seem incapable of seeing the bigger picture. I fully expect an attempt to impeach him again on some other spurious charges, if they fall for that option they are guaranteeing him re-election.
Oh I think Pelosi was at the forefront of restricting what Trump could achieve and impeaching him from the start, her reputation as 'someone you don't mess with' is in tatters now and that must hurt so someone who should stand for the rule of law and the procedures has blown it.
Good because there is something seriously wrong with politics when the sole objective of your tenure is not to help to make your country and people prosper but to spend all your time trying to dislodge a democratically elected President because he is not one of the status quo.
Sam - I'm surprised she doesn't see that considering her age and experience. As if the Dems are nowhere near as emotionally intelligent as we might suppose.
Sobers - maybe the Dems are worried that their mood music is being swamped and Trump's mood music could even survive him.
Wiggia - yes her reputation as 'someone you don't mess with' is in tatters, but she could have played her part more effectively.
