Because the Guardian are now largely online rather than print, it is possible for large numbers of inadequates to congregate there as readers and journalists. It's like how steam train enthusiasts and bird watchers firm online communities If you were called names and bullied at school because you are black; if you have been knocked about by your brute of a boyfriend; if you had it tough because your mining village didn't appreciate your homosexuality; or if you think your life will get better when a doctor cuts your dick off - where are you going to go for mutual commiseration?
Jannie - I don't bother with it and from what I hear I'm not missing much.
Sam - good point, it seems to be a feature of the online world. I sometimes wonder if this kind of self-selecting online community will eventually lose the cachet of its historical association with a mainstream newspaper.
