I went to pick up a prescription at Boots this morning - fairly early. An addict was just knocking back his methadone prescription, his hooded mate looking on, hands in pockets. Both were young white men, in their twenties at most.
The duty pharmacist was a Muslim lady - at least I assume so from her name badge and headscarf.
These little incidents are nothing in themselves, but you can't avoid noticing and filing them away.

The methadone will be a substitute for other stuff. Where does that come from and by what routes and means? And where have the profits gone. See Rowans Blog.
Very much so and we can never say why.
Demetrius - any why do we treat him with a legal fix only after so much damage has been done?
James - although what we can say is that it happens.
A respectable friend of mine went to Boots and tried to buy some citric acid (for a cooking recipe) and nearly got arrested. Apparently they report people buying it because it's used by drug traders to cut hard drugs!
GPs and pharmacies like to do the junkies early in the hope that they won't bother normos, like yourself, too much.
Woodsy - it's absurd really. Would a drug dealer go to Boots for citric acid!
banned - maybe this guy overslept. It was about 9am.
Yes - it's absurd. But actually yes they would go to Boots because they don't know any better. My local brewing supplies shop says he is always being asked for it by hoodie wearing teens and doesn't have it on show any more.
It's also absurd because if they can't get citric acid they will probably use something poisonous.
Woodsy - I didn't know that, I just assumed they would have more discreet sources. Obviously not.
