The best car ever was the 1928 Duesenberg Model J according to Jay Leno. One up for the 1920s perhaps. In my experience, modern mass-produced cars are pretty good but too complex.
I'm wary of touching some of the controls on my car in case it makes the dashboard look different or affects how I move the mirrors. I like it the way it is, have a vague suspicion it could be even better if I fiddled with it, but I'm scared to in case it mucks it all up and I can't get it back again.
I feel the same about my phone, but it's a bit much when I have to ask my children how to drive the car.
Sam - our car doesn't have all the latest 'helpful' bits and pieces and when the time comes I know I'll be reluctant to replace it partly for that reason. My cousin got rid of his bells and whistles car and replaced it with a simpler model.
