And armed robbery. I bet corner-shop owners in big cities are looking forward to this one. It must be scary enough when you're on the till late at night and a bloke comes in and starts acting suspiciously.

Can we all wear those V for Vendetta masks now? How about that chap who the police were wanting to 'speak to' about wearing his medieval plague mask? He should be asking for a formal apology!

Gov.uk have not yet updated their site about the soon-to-be compulsory wearing of face coverings (not necessarily masks), although it already has contradictory advice.

You Tube have just removed an informative video in which the CO2 concentration under a mask was found to stay above 5000ppm! This is a clear danger to the respiratory & general health of the wearer and could be detrimental if a mask is worn for more than a few minutes, certainly if worn for hours. Even a clear plastic face shield, which is away from the face and not closely fitted around its edges, showed worryingly increased CO2 levels behind it.

A legal challenge is needed!

Sam - I bet all shop owners are losing heart. We certainly won't bother.

Sobers - I hope we see people in medieval plague masks and lots of other interpretations.

Ed - masks will soon become damp too, then bacteria begin growing on them. I don't think we'll bother, we'll stick with online only.

Sticking a panty-liner to your face would comply with the government's mandatory "face covering", as there's no defined specification for:
A mask
Breathing through it.
How it fits.
Whether it filters particles.
Efficiency at bacterial/viral particle sizes.
Etc., etc.

I shall be printing lots of leaflets with the government guidelines, to hand out to any bolshie shop "guardians" when I arrive with my "panty-mask!
