Mask Day

Source

As we know, today is Mask Day. It seems obvious enough that politically nobody cares if masks work or not. They are a prop to offset some of the gross exaggeration generated by our incompetent response to the coronavirus debacle. An attempt to spin the thing out and fade into normality rather than jumping in all at once. An attempt to deflect some of the fury likely to be directed at our political leaders if rational hindsight ever gets going.

Agreed. It's only now though that I realise what a personal embuggerance this is going to be. Another thing, like wallet, keys, phone and glasses, which must be remembered if we want a normal life outside the house. Mask left on the kitchen table or in the other jacket? Then no petrol, shopping, enquiries, etc.

I will turn this whole thing around and will be wearing an Israeli flag face mask. I look forward to being challenged, I feel very aggressive today.

As I posted to Longrider earlier: I went to hospital for a urology examination t’other day. Eventually a nurse asked “have you got a mask?”. I answered that I was exempt as I have OSA. She didn’t know it stood for Obstructive Sleep Apnoeia and I didn’t tell her. If you can’t fool them with facts, baffle them with bullshit. I shoulda been a politician but don’t fancy the lobotomy.

Sam - I find it creepy as well as a personal embuggerance. I hope that wearing them is widely ignored but I doubt it.

Anon - good for you. I've been looking at masks with all kinds of printed images and messages.

Jannie - fortunately my last urology examination was shortly before lockdown and I'm hoping it will be all over before the next.
