Better to remain silent...

Actually, the Pope does know quite a lot about oil. Within the Catholic Church, they have the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick, and sacred chrism. What these have to do with climate change, I'm not at all sure.

After their bollocking by the Pope and (for some reason) Mary Robinson, I wonder what the chastened CEOs said to each other on the way out. I imagine they might have been a bit disappointed not to meet Greta Thunberg there.

Candles are banned from now on.
Small LED imitation candles are being issued.

The precise connection between climate change and the Catholic Church escapes me but the current Pope seems to make his religion up on the spur of the moment. Centuries-old dogma is irrelevant to him. He is a follower of contemporary popular fads rather than a theologian. The similarities with our Archbish are interesting but Franky seems a little more independent of mind. Justin just follows the leader page of the Guardian.

Sam - maybe they said to each other on the way out - "he's more oily than we are."

Doonhamer - good point. No heating and no lighting in any church property and everyone travels by bicycle including the Pope.

Graeme - as an outsider I agree and also as an outsider it's disappointing. We need prominent people who are more rooted in eternal verities rather than passing fads.
