This morning Mrs H and I buzzed off to the local garden centre in the MX5.
No driving in a closed box with the air-conditioning on, but old style driving on quiet roads. Top down, windows down, elbow on the door with the breeze blowing up my shirt sleeve. As Mrs H said, this is how roads ought to be.

We prefer all-windows-open to using the air con. I begin to wonder whether this is because our air con is so feeble. Attention required? We'd better have it seen to before winter when its anti-misting action is wonderful.
dearieme - it may need attention because even in this warm weather ours would have kept the interior cool if we'd left the top up and used it.
I must say I was grateful for our new cars air con when I had to go into town for the Saturday shopping, made driving much more comfortable. I do have an open topped sports car too, but being very old 1956, the engine heat leaks through to the cabin and spoils the open air effect. Good in winter though.
Tammly - I imagine warm feet on a winter drive makes a spin in your 1956 open top well worth while.
