One has to wonder whether the Labour Party are already having second thoughts. The Northern Messiah appears to have nothing more than Hopey Changey™ hot air to offer them, and the voters.
There are lots of difficult questions facing the UK today, and they all require a hard decision. Cheaper energy, or continue with the NZ national suicide? Less welfare, or continue paying increasing numbers to do nothing at the expense of the increasingly few workers? Unlimited immigration, or stricter rules thereon? Lower or higher taxes? Continue to spend ever increasing amount of borrowed money, or attempt to live within our means? In all these cases the can kicking option is actually a choice to continue on the current road, so is effectively removed as a middle way. We either continue down the current road at varying speeds, or we turn around and take a new road entirely. There is no Third Way.
Sobers - that's an interesting idea, yes they could be having second thoughts already. Starmer even seems to have known they would because he knew Burnham wasn't the best option.
Burnham certainly comes across as a remarkably useless Northern Messiah, as if he's been suckered into a placeholder role until 2029 is a little closer.
As well as allegedly leaving Manchester with an debt of £1.3 billion, it appears that power cuts, 3 day working weeks, mass walk outs, demarcation demands, and being governed by the unions, will be the results of Burnham's plans, as well as him blaming Margaret Thatcher for having the temerity to stop them. Any Prime Minister must know and accept the truth of the following equation:
Planned Growth ≠ Actual Growth
