But the small balancing wheel is on the left. That cannot be right, surely?

P.S. People rave about the dancing but I must say it makes me grimace at the very thought of attempting it. Rather them than me.

I'll bet the high gearing is a bitch on any significant gradient!

DJ - ha ha - good point, especially as all the productive effort is on the right.

dearieme - I'd just sit at the top of those steps and watch, I wouldn't even bet on arriving at the bottom unscathed in the way they did it.

Dave - it should be okay if Zack Polanski can can appear on TV and hypnotise millions of people into having much bigger arm muscles.

There is an old railway at Confolens [France] where one can hire 'bicycles' like these. The left wheel is to keep one on the rails. They are so heavy that one is kept upright. No cycling skill needed.

Anon - interesting, I took a quick look. It looks like fun but hard work.

Doesn't go very fast does it. How long to travel across those vast plains before expiring with the effort?

Tammly - much too long would be my guess.

Don't let Millibrain see this or else he'll consider it a useful step to net zero rail travel.

Penseivat - good point, I'll scrub that post I was going to do about pogo sticks just in case.
