I was taught that the haggis has left fore and aft legs longer than the ones on the right side. This enables the rather top heavy, roly poly beastie to run gracefully clockwise around the steep Scottish braes. The haggis hunter waits beside a well worn haggis run, hunkered down hidden behind a large clump of ling or whin bush, listening for the cheerful heedrum hodrum tune of the happy unsuspecting beastie. Just as the haggis approaches the hunter leaps up, swinging his plaid up in the air and shouts out "BOO!" The doo-oomed haggis has a fit of conniption, turns to run back along the haggis run and topples tapsle-teerie and burls down the hill straight into the net trap that the hunter had previously set. Alas poor haggis, gone for its appointment with neeps and tatties.
Doonhamer - ha ha, an excellent insight into the crafty realities of a successful haggis hunter. You could also offer your creative services to the folk who make these videos.

When is haggis hunting season? Suppose I'd best watch the vid.
James - it's the month before Hogmanay but you'll need a haggis net and some bait.
We had our first haggis of the cool season last night. Yummmmmm. But no nip: the house is in chaos and we couldn't reach the whisky bottle.
dearieme - a relative used to dish up haggis for New Year but it's a while since we even stayed up that long. A pity.
