Okay... if the intent is to move us away from car ownership is there also a corresponding intent to bring back cottage hospitals, corner shops, and village schools so that we don't have to travel so far?
Mega regional health centres, shopping malls and huge Comprehensive Schools only work if people can travel to them. Or are we looking at a world where 'shopping' will always be delivered, school buses are available for all pupils, and multi-seater ambulances will take us to and from large hospitals?
DJ - all good points. It has a fictional feel to it, like a short story where suspension of disbelief is essential for those who prefer to enjoy the story by avoiding the holes in the plot.
