Jill Biden was complicit in husband’s cover-up, says White House
Jill Biden was “complicit” in covering up the decline of her husband while he was in office, the White House has claimed.
The former first lady “needs to answer” for her role in “shielding her husband away from the cameras”, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said accusing her of continuously “lying to the American people”...
She is accused of shielding the former president from media scrutiny and convincing him to continue his ill-fated election campaign for a second term.
Everyone knew this at the time, but still the show carried on well past the point where it was embarrassing to watch.
It may not be strictly comparable, but there is a "show must go on" aspect to Keir Starmer's continuing attempts to be a credible Prime Minister. Unfortunately for the rest of us, he isn't remotely credible and everyone knows it.
Starmer has become embarrassing to watch too. Different reasons of course, but embarrassing to watch.

He seems to be putting out constant Tweets about how he's fixing random stuff, but every one of them just gets lampooned
I consider Starmer to have a masterful anti-Midas touch. Everything he touches turns to dross.
From which it follows that as time draws on his performance becomes more and more embarrassing. Will he go or will he be pushed? And by who?
Good thing I have no tele … saves a lot of angst.
Bucko - does he? It's almost worth creating an X account to join in.
DJ - the "Starmer Touch" could become a popular term. If he's lucky that is, because it could be worse.
James - we have one but no licence and never watch it. I did switch it on the other day though, to see if it still works.
It was said sometime in the late 20th Century that a modern PM can survive almost anything: poor economic performance, poor poll results, scandal, riots, wars. But the one thing they cannot survive is widespread ridicule.
We saw it with Noris, when his buccaneering and harrumphing gave way to "ambushed by a cake". Truss and the lettuce. Rishi and, well...Rishi, I guess. I'm hoping we are in that stage now. Anyone who hasn't yet seen Starmer mauled by the press after yesterday's speech in the North West ought to have a look. You almost feel sorry for him.
Starmer's 'speeches' are just delivered with self-fear, hesitant attitude, and a complete failure in the sort of ability we need from a minister in leadership!
He is clearly uncomfortable, has inadequate skills in presentation, and is totally out of his depth in presenting any leadership qualities whatsoever!
Hopefully, he'll be gone after the next few local/by elections, because he's absolutely useless as our 'prime minister'!
Sam - yes, widespread ridicule is deadly. It's often the best way to tackle political shenanigans and stupidity. So far I haven't seen anything about Starmer's North West speech, but if he's been mauled by the press that's good news. He has to go, it's worth the risk of a dud replacement.
Anon - I agree. He's so poor that it isn't easy to see how be became a barrister as he's so unconvincing, never gives the impression that he believes what he's saying. As you say, absolutely useless.
AK, I'm so sorry, that was me as 'anon' just now!

It seems mean and gentlemanly to blame a wife for defending / protecting her husband. There were others whose duty was to call out the failing President and his problem.
Doonhamer - yes there were others, but she could have made the first move to avoid things becoming as bad as they did become, if necessary by speaking publicly about it.
