Help us to help you stay safe
The safety of site staff, residents and the wider community is our number one priority and new measures are being introduced at all of our sites so that users and staff can stick to social distancing rules to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and to help us manage traffic.
Please avoid our recycling centres unless your journey is essential because you can’t continue to store waste safely at home without it causing injury or harm. No other reason for the journey would be considered a legitimate purpose...

Check which days you will be allowed in
Vehicles will be allowed into recycling centres on certain days depending on whether the last number on their number plate is odd or even. Vehicles with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 as the last number will be allowed in on even dates in the month and those with 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be allowed in on odd dates in the month.

Ah, waste recycling centres; or, as we used to call them, rubbish tips. A well-run tip is a joy. My wife knew one old boy who would meet up with a group of similar chaps on his weekly Saturday morning trips to the local amenity. They had trailers and often helped out taking neighbours' stuff as well. When he wasn't feeling up to it one week, his wife texted the other chaps to let them know, and that they shouldn't wait for him....
Our local tip (Horsham) is already a bit too regimented, with hi-viz types demanding to see what is in bags, and very strict rules about what goes in what bin. They will love this extra opportunity to boss people around. It's essentially the rag-pickers' revenge upon people with clean cars and smart casual clothing from Marks & Spencers.
We've got a garage full of stuff that needs taking to the tip, but there's no way I am going to brave it until the queues die down.
You would be amazed at what you can get in your black bin with a bit of effort and it is quite legal in with this council, I phoned awhile back re some electrical stuff that I wanted to get rid of quite prepared to go to the waste recycling center, and a very helpful lady asked what it was and told me the above, if it goes in it will be collected, of course it could all have changed but I still hold them to their word.
Sam - that may be the case at our recycling centre, we haven't been yet and like you are in no rush to go.
Wiggia - we are getting rid of quite a lot via the bins. Anything which can be broken down into smaller bits and pieces.
