Abandoned Russian homestead

Fascinating video although it could do with more context - or maybe wanting some context is a tribute to the video.

Just a guy with a video camera but the BBC couldn't do it. The BBC would add context but lose everything else by telling rather than showing. It would tell us about the poignancy instead of allowing us to feel it in our own way - or not feel it at all. The Beeb would probably add some music too - music it just doesn't need.

Fascinating - many thanks. One cook makes a great broth, whereas the BBC would have had too many cooks. Lots of people in the team trying to demonstrate how professional they are. He is a natural speaker and genuine enthusiast, and again the BBC would have ruined everything with faked emotions. And a load of imported political stuff; we would have been lectured on gender roles in the peasantry, or cultural resistance to Stalinism, etc.

All goes to show how the genuine beats fakery.

The BBC would say this is what England will look like after Brexit.

That’s true leftism - telling us how to feel.

Sam - good point, the BBC probably does have too many cooks in all kinds of areas. Simple, natural and enthusiastic does work because as you say, genuine beats fakery.

Anon - or maybe this is what parts of England really will look like if the climate loons have their way.

James - and not even being aware that people notice.
