Looking on the bright side of Brexit isn’t easy, but it has
exposed the weaknesses of our supposed democracy. As many of us know, political
life attracts the wrong people, the party system fails to screen them out and
voters are far too tribal, far too casual and continually fail to spot the
duds.
From a glass half full perspective, exposing the system for what
it is must be healthy. Incidental exposure of the EU as an intransigent waste
of space must be good too. Maybe we will even learn something from it.

Indeed, it's often good to see the process in a longer timescale. Perhaps that is Dominic Cummings' aim; to slowly build a realistic and effective right-wing party from the old Tory wreckage.
Still, let's hope we don't get a spell of labour government as part of the process.
Sam - recent events certainly feel like Cummings clearing out the dead wood. Whether Johnson also feels able to take a long view I don't know. A spell of Labour government would be a disaster though.
I would love to think we are going in that direction, but sadly I don't see it happening, to many false dawns ie UKIP in recent years, I see nothing now in politics I would vote for but fear I am in the minority, even after three and half years that have shown our HOC and system and the EUs for what it is
Wiggia - yes three and half years have shown the HOC for what it is, but voters put the MPs where they are. I don't think it is particularly likely but voters could learn from what has been going on.
