Friday 13th

I see Donald Trump is due to visit the UK on July 13thFrom the BBC -

US President Donald Trump is to visit the UK on Friday 13 July, after previously cancelling a planned trip amid claims he would face protests.

It will not be the full-blown state visit Mr Trump was promised when Prime Minister Theresa May visited the White House in January last year.

But an invitation to a state visit still stands, the BBC understands.

He will hold bilateral talks with Mrs May, Downing Street said, with further details to be "set out in due course".

The July date follows the Nato summit in Brussels which the president is expected to attend.

Bound to be embarrassing as shouty folk will see it as an opportunity for a spot of politically correct virtue-signalling. They will see that as far more important than the success of the visit. The BBC will probably fail to give the visit worthwhile coverage too. Fortunately I'll miss that.

Not an event to relish. I’ll be glad when it’s over.

This is a really exciting time for the shouty people. Not only do they get to parade their virtues, they probably think that they can upset Trump and his entourage enough to scupper any trade deals, thereby confirming their predictions that Brexit will leave us friendless and tradeless.

Sadly, the very little we know of Trump suggests that he cares little for what other people think. Even important people. But, as so often with the shouties, it's the thought that counts.

Will be visit his McLeod ancestral acres? Will he wear a kilt?

As I've said elsewhere,

He'd do best to avoid Khan's awful London, and be met at Windsor, where the welcome will be pleasant, the company excellent, and the venue a rather nice, clean town, and free of the dross one gets from our failing capital city.

I'd rather like him to come to Tunbridge Wells, but the council are just about to spend £120,000,000 on a people's palace, so the footings won't actually be started this early...

Sam - I'm sure it's the shouting too. They probably get an adrenaline surge which makes them feel good for several days afterwards.

Demetrius - the kilt may depend on his legs - are they suited to it or are they not the same colour as his face?

Scrobs - if he came to Tunbridge Wells he might have something to say about that £120,000,000 and how property deals should be done.
